Mt.Gox to begin civil rehabilitation

Based in Japan, Mt. Gox was the largest cryptocurrency exchange, handling over 70% of all bitcoin transactions worldwide. Launched in July 2010, the Japanese exchange had to file for bankruptcy in 2014, after suffering from a Bitcoin hack worth $473 million . Now it seems that creditors might be able to rejoice as the Mt.Gox exchange has officially began civil rehabilitation proceeding and users may receive compensation in BTC instead of fiat.

Bitcoin ATM available at Schipol Airport

Last week, the Schiphol Airport authorities announced the installation of a bitcoin ATM to allow travellers to convert their left overs euros to either ethereum (ETH) or bitcoin (BTC). The ATM will be available on the premises until January 2019, as part of a six-month trial. This pilot project will help the airport authorities to assess the demand for cryptocurrency exchange services. This bitcoin ATM is the first cryptocurrency service offered by an airport in the European region.

Switzerland is known for being a progressive nation when it comes to cryptocurrency. The Crypto Valley in the Canton of Zug, is internationally recognised by the industry as an important blockchain hub. Last week, at the Crypto Valley Conference, Johann N. Schneider-Ammann, Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs claimed that; “Blockchain can provide new opportunities, new jobs, new levels of security and new prosperity. It’s definitively never too early to start.” — confirming Switzerland’s stances on blockchain technology.

Freedom of the Press Foundation now to accepts cryptocurrency donations

The “Freedom of the Press Foundation” announced that people can now donate five different cryptocurrencies to the organisation. The non-profit supports free speech, whistleblowers and the freedom of the press. The foundation will now be able to receive cryptocurrency donations in BCH, LTC, ZEC, ETH, and BTC to help them fund various projects that promote freedom, such as its whistleblower submission system.
